Your Fashion Guide to Nottingham Races 2013

Choosing what to wear for a day out at the races can be a difficult task but ASOS are here to help with some outfit suggestions for your trip to Nottingham Racecourse.
For the Ladies
The Premier enclosure operates a smart casual dress code, but for those ladies who like to make an entrance a maxi dress accessorised to the max will stand you in good stead. The benefit of a maxi dress is that it can be paired with flat sandals or shoes if the going is a bit soft. The dress looks elegant and classy with a simple clutch to hold all your winners.
For those ladies wanting to make a day and night of it, the racecourse is the perfect venue to don your favourite party dress. Nottingham racecourse is situated just 2 miles from the bars and clubs of Nottingham. A stylish dress, paired with a pair of killer heels and a little bag is perfect for both the premier enclosure and the general admissions and this style can be carried on into the night.
A day at the races involves a lot of standing and walking, so for this, a lady can never go wrong with a pair of jeans and flat pumps. Team this up with a smart rain jacket or mac on a chillier day and you will be able to focus on picking a winner while looking fabulous.
Nottingham racecourse is a flat racecourse, meaning it has meetings from April to November, and as we all know the weather in Britain is rather unpredictable in the early summer months and towards the end of the summer. The Premier enclosure requires smart casual clothing but in the general admission area there is no dress code. When the going is soft to heavy I would always favour a pair of wellies, there is nothing worse than watching a pair of designer heels sinking deep into the mud. Wellies, jeans and a warm jacket would be my outfit of choice.
For the Gents
For the men, the easy choice for a day at the races is a smart suit. A suit will allow you entry into all enclosures and you’ll certainly look the part when you are collecting your winnings. You can never go wrong with this option.
For those gentlemen who are stuck in a suit throughout the week, and may want a change from that, a pair of chinos teamed with a blazer will suffice. This outfit is smart casual and therefore you will not be restricted entry to the Premier enclosure. Just something to bear in mind, for those who have never been to the races before, not everyone wears tweed - this is a myth. But a nice tweed blazer certainly would look the part paired with your smart chinos.
If you are planning on spending your day at the races in the General admission area then you do not have to worry about the smart casual dress code. There will be a variety of outfit choices on display in the general admission area. I would suggest selecting something that is comfortable and weather appropriate. A day at the races involves a lot of standing and walking, so ensure you are comfortable and warm, so that you can thoroughly enjoy your day and focus your attention on the mares.

A new year for Nottingham Racecourse.

It has been an extremely busy end to 2012 and start of 2013 for us at the racecourse! We now have our new 2013 brochure which I hope you will all check out at www.nottinghamracecourse.co.uk and we also have Circus Vegas here until Sunday 3rd Feb.

We are doing a bit of redecorating and carpeting which is very exciting so looking forward to unveiling that to our racegoers on Wednesday 10th April, and to our conference and events guests mid February!

Looking towards our racing season, there are so many exciting things to tell you about that I can't possibly fit it all in today; however looking at April's race meetings, the 10th will be fab as its a chance to unveil our new 'General Admission' so all previous grandstand ticket buyers will have the chance to experience the premier enclosure as we open our gates to all. Then on Saturday 20th April, we will have our Newcomers Night where we are hosting 'Its a Jock Out in aid of Racing Welfare', where University Student teams will be competing in games to win some prizes all in aid of Racing Welfare, followed by a live band after racing!

So thats a glance into April 2013 at Nottingham Racecourse! Watch this space as there will be some exclusive offers coming up soon....

I will also be introducing a guest blogger every so often on our page, and am excited to share with you all that ASOS will be the first. ASOS will have a few tips about how to dress for a day at the races, so make sure you check that out later on in the week!!

I hope that you have had a good Monday and enjoy the rest of the week at work; phones are ringing off the hook with enquiries for hospitality for our race days so make sure you call and book your packages now.

I am visiting the Racing School in Newmarket next week so I be in touch whilst I am there to bring you some more Nottingham Racecourse gossip.
